Group of Seven: A Canadian group of landscape painters, this group was formed in 1920.   It consisted of 7 members - hence the name.   Franklin Carmichael, A.Y. Jackson, Frank Johnson, Arthur Lismer, J.E.H. MacDonald and Frederick Varley.   Note:  Tom Thomson had close ties but was never a member as he died (disappeared in Northern Ontario presumed drowned) before the group was formed.  Emily Carr also had close links to this astonishing collection of artists.
